CSSC – Centre for Science, Society and Citizenship (IT)
The Centre for Science, Society, Citizenship is an independent and interdisciplinary research centre located in Rome and registered by Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research. CSSC serves as a member of the Fundamental Rights Platform of the Fundamental Rights Agency of the EU. CSSC is the coordinating institution of RISE, and it is in charge of managing the activities of the press and communication centre of the project. CSSC will also organize the 4th International Conference in Brussels in December 2011.

AUTH – Aristotle Univeristy of Thessaloniki (GR)
Founded in 1925 and situated near the metropolitan centre of Thessaloniki, the city that resonates the wealth and magnificence of the Byzantine Empire, with its 41 departments AUTh is the largest university in Greece. The Department of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE) is one of the most active parts in the Faculty of Technology, and is involved in many EC and national projects. In the framework of the RISE project, AUTH main tasks is to organize the third Stakeholder Workshop on Cyber Security in September 2010, that will examine issues raised with regard to the security of biometric databases.

BRC – Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Biometric Research Centre (PRC)
The Biometric Research Centre of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University was established in 1998 as a Hong Kong based institution with a corresponding branch in Beijing. The key research areas are Medical Diagnosis and Biometric Authentication. BRC has been playing a leading role in Biometric Security during the past years, with the development of the first palm print identification system in the world and the organization of the first and second international conferences on Biometric Authentication. Within the RISE project framework, BRC main task is to organize the 3rd International Conference on Ethics and Biometrics, in January 2010

C-PET – Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies (USA)
The Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies is a non partisan US think tank established in 2007 to study the ethical, social and legal implications of technologies such as artificial intelligence, radio-frequency identifiers and applications of nanotechnologies. C-PET’s mission is to develop policy proposals and to broad nonpartisan dialogue on the societal dimension of key emerging technologies of the 21st century. C-PET’s role within the RISE project is to organize a preparatory meeting for the 4th International Conference on ethics and biometrics, which will solidify the work done during all international conferences from 2005 to 2010, and create a regular biennial event coordinated by an international nonpartisan interest group.

ULANC – Lancaster University (UK)
Lancaster University is a leading higher education institution in UK. The Centre for Economic and Social Aspect of Genomic (CESAgen) was established in 2002 as a collaboration with the Cardiff University: it is a multidisciplinary centre in which staff from social sciences and humanities work closely with natural and medical sciences, to address the social, economic and political aspects of genomics. Its main objective is to investigate the economic and social factors that shape natural knowledge in the field of genomics. The role of Lancaster University within the RISE project is to organize the 1st Stakeholder Workshop on Individual Identity, which will take place in Brussels in November 2009.

EBF – European Biometric Forum (IE)
The European Biometrics Forum, launched in 2003 by the European Commission and the Irish Government, acts as an independent, non profit, pan-European multi stakeholder platform in the domain of biometrics, passports and registered travel schemes. Its mission is to organize activities that will bring further the appropriate and beneficial use of biometrics within the European Union and abroad, and to promote best practices and encourage the use of all aspects of these technologies and provide a liaison point for those interested in this field of research. EBF is in charge of organizing the RISE Multi Stakeholder Conference, a two day meeting which will take place in Brussels in December 2010.

GSI – Global Security Intelligence (USA)
Global Security Intelligence LLC is a research US consultancy founded in 2005 to respond to the need of a more holistic approach to security problems, both in the public and in the private sectors: GSI key expertise mainly regards the Safe and Security Technologies and the Independent Living Technologies, its holistic approach concerns the study of the cultural, ethical and legal implications of security. GSI will be responsible to manage an independent Public Awareness Campaign for the RISE project, whose principal aim is to promote democratic scrutiny and participation.

DSCI – Data Security Council of India (INDIA)
The Data Security Council of India is a Self Regulatory Organization created by Nasscom, the premier trade body and chamber of commerce of the IT-BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) industries in India. DSCI main mission is to facilitate the culture of security and privacy in the Indian IT industry and promote the message that India is a secure destination for outsourcing: DSCI is the only organization of its kind in the IT-BPO Industry globally. It is guided by and independent Steering Committee with balanced representation from industry and experts from the various domain of security (academia, government, law enforcement bodies and IT/ITES orgs). DSCI main task within the RISE project is to prepare and convene the Preparatory meeting of the 3rd International Conference, in New Delhi in September 2009.

UT – University of Tartu (ESTONIA)
The Centre for Ethics of the University of Tartu was established in 2001 to analyze, discuss and reflect upon ethical issues in Estonian society: one of its main objectives includes now the interdisciplinary research regarding the ethical issues pertaining to science, society and research activities. The Centre has successfully participated in several international research projects and hold a grant of the UNESCO on research ethics. The role of the Centre for Ethics within RISE project is to organize the 2nd Stakeholder Workshop on “Global Mobility” which will take place in Brussels in March 2010, and to supervise the participation of the RISE consortium in the international debate through policy briefs and scientific papers, and their overall quality.

NCCU – National ChengChi University (Taiwan)
Established in 1927, National Chengchi University (NCCU) is noted for its humanities and social sciences disciplines and currently housing 9 colleges, including liberal arts, science, social sciences, law, commerce, foreign languages & literature, communication, international affairs and education; 33 departments, 2 BA modules, and 48 graduate institutes (including master’s module), with 32 graduate institutes offering PhD programs, 16 on-the-job master’s programs, and 5 English-taught degree programs. In 2010, NCCU has been appointed as one of the National Contact Point for EU FP7 programs, in the area of security.
