The RISE workshop on “Ethical and Policy Implications of Global Mobility and Security” which took place in the European Parliament, Brussels on Sept 23-24. Peter Hustinx, European Data Protection Supervisor, and Ioannis Tsoukalas, MEP, Committee on Industry, Research and Energy will address the event.

Other speakers included Christos Geraris,Hellenic Data Protection officer and Max Snijder, EBF.
The overall topic of the workshop was ethical and policy issues raised by the tension between global mobility and security needs. The main focus was the wider human implications of technologies like biometrics and online surveillance, topics recognized as significent issues in our modern society.

Pan‐Asian Conference on the 21st and 22nd of October.
A meeting was held in Taipei, as a follow‐up to the Hong Kong Conference, which focused on enlarging the conversation with participants from across the region, including the Republic of China, Philippines, Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam and other Asian major Countries.
